Rist Canyon is one of my favorite roads for my street bike, Im jealous. Ive been reading about some trails in that area, some off Rist some off Poudre Canyon. You are close to Red Feathers area as well. Enjoy that new bike, I really like my blue 09.

You start with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. Hopefully you fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

If you take Rist Canyon all the way up. Then take the road straight, past Stove Prairie School and get onto Old Flowers Rd. in Roosevelt Forest. When You go all the way through Old flowers You can get to Poudre Canyon. I can't remember the County Road but it will drop you into Red Feather Lakes one Road east of Deadman Road. I'd have to look at my maps but it's a unique dirt road ride.
I grew up there, went to Stove Prairie and Love that mountain.

You can also get to Poudre if you just hang right at the Stove Prairie school intersection and just follow the main dirt road. Not as intense as Old Flowers.
I've only done Old flowers in my jeep. Not bad but scrape and bang a lot at stock height. Rocky and steep in 1 place for a pretty good distance uphill.
