A nice find, but hard to value. Having been stored for 27 years, bringing it back will be rather costly and time consuming and regaining title might be a pain in the butt.

How it was stored is also a factor because condition of the bike is always a factor.

Is this something you are interested in flipping?

If you have pictures, you could PM a link to me and I’d be happy to post them for you. If you don’t have a hosting link, I’ll give you my email and you could send them.

Value for the rare Tengai is hard to gauge but condition is everything - particularly the cosmetics as they are very hard to find in mint condition. Lets see those pics! :-)

Wow, what a beauty! .....I got some flak for modifying my mint 2000 KLR-A with 577 miles on it but yours is much rarer and is such nice condition that I'd definitely leave it alone.

Cheers,

Dave

WOW, that is Nice!!!

Do I see, do I remember that the Tengai engine is painted Gray not Black?

Before you turn any wrench or screw on it, have you read This? https://www.klrforum.com/introductio...kes-avoid.html

I've seen all manner and model of bikes parked & left to rot in back yards because of #1!

Yeah, when I say "leave it alone", I mean cosmetically; by all means go ahead with service items and the usual battery, tires, carb cleaning, etc. as necessary. ....or not, it's your bike, not mine (unfortunately for me!) :-)

The White tool cases are still available, #32098-0014-6F / about $31.00. Found in the 'Frame Fittings' page of parts screens.
