So, I ordered and received my Fork Brace by Eagle Mike. I installed it according to the directions provided. Torqued the bolts and nuts to specified torque (70 inch pounds). Everything looked good. Did the suspension bounce as directed. All was well, or so I thought. Rode out about 25 miles (paved) on my way to some dirt roads east of Denver. Heard a rattling sound coming from the front end, so I pulled into a gas station to see what it was. The top piece of the brace was loose and rattling, and one bolt on each side of the fork clamps wasn't tight. I tightened up the side clamps and tried to tighten up the top brace, but when I did, with a small 10mm wrench, one of the bolts snapped and the brace itself was sill loose.
So my question is, is that top brace supposed to be loose after tightening then to specs? It wasn't when I did it in the garage. And, why did two of the clamp bolts seem to loosen in 25 miles.
I've never seen anything like it. I took the brace off completely after snapping the bolt and put it in the saddle bag and finished my ride. Don't know what to make of it and not sure I want to try to reinstall it.
Any words of advice welcome, and thanks in advance.
