Normal Operating Temp Range Gen 1

Hello,
I am a new Gen 1 owner, recently purchased a 2001 very good condition (10.7K Odo). I ride at high altitude 6 - 12 k feet above sea level. Performance of the bike is great pulls like a Farmall tractor everywhere. I am curious about where my temperature gage should be during normal riding in mountain twisties. 45- 55 mph 3500 - 4500 rpm. My display is dead center in the temp range to one needle thickness above the little symbol in the center. Is that pretty normal or is it running a little hot?
If I am putting along in traffic my left leg gets pretty hot, not burning but less than comfortable.

Any input is welcome.
My 1998 temp needle rides right where you describe. I used to think it was running hot as well (based solely on needle position) but after years of running this way as well as looking at other KLRs I believe it to be normal and have never had an issue.
