I had one of these back in 1990. Great bike, but Honda took a bath on these because US market wasn't ready for a bike like this.
I agree. Motorcycle enthusiast didn't exactly know what to do with the XL600V TA at the time of its release. Honda was and is usually ahead of the times. Took 30 plus years for individuals to understand what the TA is about. Do you think Honda engineers and marketing staff are shaking their heads and shrugging their shoulders?

I considered this bike to be about 90% street. It fit my riding fine, but I mainly did (and still do) back roads and pavement. @KBear are you planning to take that on a BDR?
I see this bike as you do as well. Yes, I do a lot of back road riding and mountain fire roads. I haven't purchased the new XL750 TA yet. I confess two weeks ago I did stop by a Honda dealership to see if they had one on the floor but they didn't. I was too afraid to ask about one as well for fear of wanting to put money down on deposit. So I wondered around averting eye contact with sales staff. 🤣
