Well, compared to what I’ve been riding for many years, it really is. It’s about 400 pounds lighter than the Goldwing.

Thanks for the link. I did read through it last evening and the advice on chain tension is excellent since I haven't ridden a chain drive motorcycle in a long time. Though my wife's Honda CTX700 is chain drive, it's not meant for off-road travel and doesn't have the suspension travel of the KLR.

I also learned many years ago to ride the motorcycle a good while before making any changes or adding anything. Right now, a tank bag and top case are on the short list but there's no rush.
