I had a "Malibu Barbie" KLR, too. I thought mine was a '94, but I'm not sure. Now I'm going to lie awake in bed for nights until I find a way to confirm.
 
Found the bike via craigslist. Seeing the pics of glossy, unscratched plastics, low mileage, absence of dents, scrapes or obvious flaws -my mind was already doing the math and developing a rationale for yet another KLR.

People have motorcycles for all kinds of reasons. My reason is to make me smile. On the KLRs, I've always pretty religious about maintenance because I did a lot of BFE trips in solo mode. She's the perfect tool for exploring the southwest.

Cool pics and thanks for sharing! The new gen 1 was a find as I been researching and they are getting rarer and rarer to even see a “gem 1” on CL anymore.
