Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t know that about the iPhone. You may benefit from an online search on the type of phone you have, and whether or not it's "approved for use" on motorcycles by its manufacturer. My iPhone is disapproved by Apple for mounting on bikes - the vibration could apparently destroy some of the fragile camera stability mechanisms inside.
I don't know what cameras folks are using these days. I just found a new-in-box, factory sealed GoPro (old model), cheap, at a thrift store. It will do just fine on my bike. I hope.
One option I was considering, before I came across the GoPro, was cutting a small opening in my button-down motorcycle jacket's front pocket for my iPhone's lens to peek through. I never use that pocket for anything was how my reasoning went, such as that is. I was going to make a little box out of foam core to keep the phone from shifting around in the pocket while I'm riding, but the dedicated video cam put a halt to this project. I believe it would work though.

Thank youiPhones are pretty much a no-go on any thumper. They have a mechanical image stabilization system built into the camera that will be damaged by vibrations, rendering the camera inoperable.
Yes, there are vibration-damping systems like quad-lock's system, but nothing completely eliminates vibrations, and the newer the iphone, the more sensitive the camera.
A second hardened phone (eg. Kyocera Duraforce Pro/2) can function well as a nav device, and can potentially be tethered to your primary phone while riding.
