Speedometer Problem

I have a new 2023 KLR and recently I noticed that when I am cruising at 60mph and slowly gain my speed to 62mph / 63mph the digital speedometer will jump to 77mph, 88mph so I let off the throttle a little bit and it goes back to regular speed reading. It seems to only happen when I'm in that range of 62-63mph. I can go 70-85mph on the interstate or highway and it doesn't jump. I'm not at all familiar with a digital display and having a hard time troubleshooting this. Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks,
Robert (Central Mississippi)

Did it do it the First time that you rode it that speed? Did your bike have "0" miles on it when you bought it?

You may want to check that the speedo sensor connection / mounting is tightened properly Sensor is screwed into the guard mounted directly over the front sprocket.
If that doesn't fix it, I'd insist that your Kawasaki Dealership make Kawasaki Warranty cover the diagnosis & repair.

Chances are high that the dealership didn't test ride it, like they are supposed to. To confirm EVERYTHING works correctly!

This happens to me all the time. That stupid speedo sensor is in the WRONG LOCATION! What a piss poor design.
The slightest amount of dirt & debris will make the sensor go all wonky on you. Removing the front sprocket cover and cleaning the sensor should remedy the issue…until the next time it gets gunked up.
